Hailey Callahan
is a ceramicist based in Detroit, Michigan. The process behind Callahan’s pottery
involves a lengthy process incorporating crystalline glazes.
While her earning her BFA from the College for Creative Studies - Ceramics department, Callahan studied and developed her own unique crystalline glazes.
From precise kiln programming to tediously measuring the thickness of glaze application, Callahan was able to influence the growth of crystals across the surface of her thrown forms.
Even with a highly technical approach, the outcome of the glaze is unpredictable. Making these forms completely unique against all odds.
