Words on design coming soon.

Matthew Kolbrener is a Detroit-based lighting designer, specializing in both glass blowing and metal fabrication. Focusing on the dynamic relationship between handblown glass and stainless steel - Kolbrener’s work explores texture, line and form. His approach to shaping glass has its roots in mass production - creating custom-made molds to form hot glass into vintage-inspired shapes.

Kolbrener’s distinctive style, inspired by the industrial and craft history of Detroit, has developed with over 10 years of experience at Axiom Glass, Penland School of Crafts, College for Creative Studies (CCS), The Henry Ford Museum, and The Pittsburgh Glass Center.

Under the direction of Jason Forck, Matt began blowing glass at the Pittsburgh Glass Center (PGC) at an early age, winning several scholarships to study with world-class artists such as Pablo Soto, Joe Cariati, Janusz Pozniak and Adam Holtzinger, leaving a lasting impression on his approach to the material.
