NEXT:SPACE partners with Lawrence Technological University's Detroit Center for Design + Technology to present the first datum: detroit series, featuring portraits of work from eight local furniture designers. Captured through the lens of Detroit photographer Heather Saunders, each portrait is a glimpse into a unique perspective shaping contemporary design in Detroit.

Examining the unique range of design approaches and aesthetics born from designers living and working in the same area, datum:detroit seeks to define the next generation of local designers and reinforce the role of Detroit as a center for innovative design.The simple, yet compelling portraits introduce the viewer to a diverse range of designers - inviting further exploration of the new age of local design.
